    What types of alpaca fibre does Waratah supply?

    Waratah supplies both Huacaya and Suri fleece across white, light fawn and coloured fibre lines, sorted into commercial micron ranges.

    What volumes can Waratah provide?

    Through the co-operative network, Waratah can assemble commercial bale volumes to meet both domestic and international buyer requirements.

    How is the fibre classed?

    All fleece is professionally sorted and classed by AWEX accredited classers in line with recognised industry standards.

    Can Waratah fulfil specific buyer requirements?

    Yes, Waratah can allocate fibre to meet specific buyer orders based on micron, colour and volume requirements.

    Do you supply internationally?

    Yes, Waratah works with international buyers and can assist with export and freight coordination.

    What is the typical bale size?

    Fleece is typically supplied in bales of approximately 150kg.

    Do I need to be a member to sell fleece through Waratah?

    No, non-members can supply fleece, however members receive additional benefits including upfront payments and improved pricing.

    Do I need a large herd to join?

    No, Waratah works with alpaca producers of all sizes, with fleece pooled to create commercial volumes.

    What are the supply requirements for members?

    Members are expected to supply a minimum amount of prepared fleece annually in line with co-operative guidelines.

    Can I access support as a member?

    Yes, members can access farm advice, fleece preparation guidance and support through the Waratah network.

    When are fleece collection dates announced?

    Collection dates are communicated via email, the website and Waratah’s communication channels. Feel free to contact us for more information.

    Where do I deliver my fleece?

    Fleece is delivered to the Waratah site near Goulburn or to approved collection points.

    How should I prepare my fleece?

    Fleece should be skirted, clean, dry and separated by type where possible. Detailed preparation guidelines are available on the website.

    When will I be paid for my fleece?

    Members receive 30% upfront once fleece is classed, with the remaining balance paid after sale.

    How is fleece priced?

    Pricing is based on micron, colour, quality and current market demand, with rates set by the co-operative. Contact us for more information.

    Yes, Waratah provides guidance, workshops and support to help improve fleece quality and preparation.
